Screw Dieting… SnapOATS is getting fat

Wednesday, January 16th, 2013

Originally, I was going to make a vanity coffee sized (13×11) version
of SnapOATS.

The cost was an issue.  I want to keep it around $100.  I would only
be able to get about $60 at that size.

But if I change to a standard 8.5×11 landscape, I can afford over
200 pages.  There are just too many photos to keep out.  Plus, Mom
mentioned a smaller book would be more portable and fit on a
bookshelf easier.

I have done some more sorting.  Over the five years, I found 50
good solo pictures of both Little Man and Little Lady.  For them,
I wanted to make sure they each have an equal number of pictures.

In the future, I didn’t want them saying: “Dad loved you more, he
put more pictures of you in the book.”

Anyway, my goal is to have the book by April.  It will be  a birthday
present to myself!  🙂

Take care,

Slimming it down…

Originally SnapOATS was one picture a day, then I
added pictures as needed.

Here’s the breakdown:
2008: 365 photos
2009: 519 photos
2010: 772 photos
2011: 760 photos
2012: 849 photos

Here’s my first cut from each year:
2008: 126 photos
2009: 121 photos
2010: 160 photos
2011: 134 photos
2012: 172 photos

The problem is, I was shooting for 60 14×12 pages.
That is only 12 pages per year!

When all is said and done, don’t be offended if everything
does not make it.

Love you all!

All good things….

Thanks to everyone to ever visited this site.

I hope you enjoyed these past five years, watching
the children grow into such wonderful young adults.

I am proud that we have a healthy stock of embarrassing
(and endearing) photos for graduations and weddings.

Work will begin immediately on a coffee table book
edition of SnapOATS.  It will be about 60 pages, so I cannot
fit every photo on those pages.  I will do my best to capture
the spirit of these five years.

Thanks for your all of your support, especially from my
loving wife, aka Mom.

We went over to a friends house for New Year’s Eve. Here are all of the children.
(they are getting so big)

The adults had a euchre tournament where you switched partners. Out of
80 total possible points, I got 79 and won the tournament!

The prize… two 1/2 pound York Peppermint patties. (they are four times larger
than a normal patty)

Mom and her girl friends.

So New Year’s Rockin’ Eve featured the kids two favorite one hit wonders.
Psy, Gangnam Style, and Carly Rae Jespen, Call Me Maybe.

Here we are… five years later… plus one unwilling cat.

Aunt J… errrrr Colts Dorothy, took Little Man to a Colts game!

They beat the Houston Texans!

We decided to go sledding! Little Lady (and Mom) were brave and we
all had a good time. (No injuries!)

One of Little Lady’s good friends just happened to be sledding there as well.

I stole this picture from Uncle D’s Facebook page.

He got to go to Times Square and see the New Year’s Eve ball in person!

We found out it is only 8 inches tall!  It just looks bigger on TV.

We had dinner with our good friends. (Little Lady is sulking because she
thought I slighted Abraham Lincoln, one of her favorite Presidents)

I just told a joke:

What would Abraham Lincoln be saying now if he were alive…

Let me out!!!!!!!!  (of the coffin that is)

There is still a nice blanket of snow on our backyard.

This is our happy home on the planet Hoth.

Grandma and Grandpa took us all to GattiTown which is like
Incredible Pizza.

In this game, the kids have to press the buttons on the wall that light up.
You get more points for speed.

Little Lady bounced around on the Frog Hopper ride.

Mom and Little Lady enjoyed the bumper cars!
