We hit the lake before it got toooooooo hot.  The lake felt great!

Little Lady loves jumping off the dock.

Mom and Dad zipped around the lake in the canoe.
(Mom is used to going with a kid.  She said this was MUCH faster)

Little Man was inspired by the nature training.

On his own, he made an insect terarrium.

The boys in the camp finished off “Big Blue” (a 20+ gallon water tank).

Because they finished Big Blue, Spock, the chief cook, was dumped with
ice cold water.

AIR RIFLES!  NOT BB’s (even Dad got to try it)
This was a favorite for both Dad and Little Man.

The air rifles were new this year.  The instructor told me the rifles are
competition level and would cost $600 if you tried to buy one in the store.

Little Man got to lead the tribe and hold our banner!

This is Fort Miami.  The boys were taught some Boys Scout laws and
mottos.  Then…  the boys (and brave parents) entered the fort.

There are two levels.  The top level had water buckets and a hose.
The bottom level had a water bucket and wet sponges.

It is upper level vs lower level, then after a while, they switch levels.

Very fun and very wet.

This structure had 7 climbing wall surfaces.  The boys had to climb
AROUND with the hand holds getting progressively smaller.

None of our boys did it.  Only 53 boys have ever done it.

Little Man learned how to tie basic knots.

HE DID IT! At the end of the obstacle course, there is a rope
swing over a big water/mud pit.  (aka: the alligator pit)

One third of the boys fell in the water and got coated in mud.

Just before our last dinner at Camp K.

(BTW: Little Man discovered country fried steak at camp.
He LOVED it!  My favorite part of camp was him coming
out of his shell and trying new things.)

The boys started the day with water training, then free swim time.
Even though it was 9am, the water wasn’t too bad!  (82 degrees)

Since there was only two boys from the pack, we were paired up with
two larger packs.

Luckily one of them had been to Camp K before.  It made it much
easier for us.

Some of these boys actually survived the week.  🙂

After completing his craft, Little Man zonked out for a few.
(Dad did too!)

Here the boys received instructions before canoeing.  Once we all got
in the lake, the spashfest began!  We were totally soaked.

Dad got to try archery!  I didn’t do so hot, my arrows kept flying funny.

Little Man had a little trouble with the bow, but tried
his best.  (he did hit the target!)

There was a campsite contest tonight.  Although our fire
was mighty, we did not win.  🙁

Little Man insisted that he cook the marshmallows.  We all had to wait
until the fire died down a little before roasting could begin.

Little Man and I went to an overnight Cub Scout camp up near Anderson.

It is a wonderful place with over 100 acres of camp and 200 additional
acres of untaimed wilderness.

Here the boys are assembling for their first dinner at the camp.

After dinner, we played several games.  Here the boys had to pass
the hulu hoop from one boy to the next.

The main dining hall is in the background.

The evening ended with “Running Bear” welcoming
us to the camp.

We went out to dinner with our friends, then went to a tent sale
at the Hallmark store.  (seen here)

Our usual dinner buddies will be going on vacation next week, so we
will not see them for a while.

I tried to inflate the kids’ pool, but the top ring has a leak.
(no idea where yet…)

We got tickets to the Indianapolis Indians through my work.

We ended up sitting right next to a friend of mine!
(he was in my brother’s class in high school)

While the seats were great, the heat was just too much.

We moved under the shade in the upper deck.

The Indians were behind most of the game but pushed
it to extra innings.

In the 10th inning, the Indians won with a 2 run walk-off
home run!

We went down to the Bloomington Farmer’s Market.

This weekend, they also had an artist show.

Here, the kids are standing in a sculpture.  Water flows out of the large
container behind Little Lady.  It flows down a sinuous stone path.

We had lunch with “Aunt” T and her hubby.

Just as we took this picture, Little Lady said:
“I am taking a picture with my future husband”

Little home wrecker…  🙂

Ice Cream Social!

We were a little worried.  Our ice cream social was supposed to start at
6:30pm, but no one showed up until 7pm!

Eventually we had a great crowd and finished the night with

Mom took the kids to the Children’s Museum.

They saw a play called “Snoopy”.  They got to meet the
actors after the play.
