Heading back home!

Tinkerbell was not happy, but she did great.  Notice how
full the back of the car is!

(and that doesn’t even take into account all of the presents
Aunt J brought back Sunday!)

Grandma and Grandpa took us to Angel Mounds.

It was once a site where over 1,000 Indians lived and farmed.

The Indians built huge walls around the central 100 acre living area.
Researchers recreated a portion of the wall (to the right).

This is on top of Mound A, the central and largest mound at the site.
it is over 44 feet high.

The chief had a home on top of the mound.  Other than a sign of respect,
researchers do not know what the mounds were used for at this location.

(They were not burial mounds)

This is on top of Mound A.  The welcome center is the orange building
in the distance.

This is the back side of Mound A.  The Ohio River is just beyond
the treeline.

Grandma taught Mom and Little Lady how to made deviled eggs.

We went to the Howell Wetlands on the east side of Evansville.

The frozen pond water was thawing and leaving these
cool “veins”.

We saw this black duck that also had dark green feathers up close.

The Howell Wetlands has a wood path that makes
it easy to traverse the area.

Little Lady threw a fit because we made her wear gloves.

Little Man griped all the way there, but once we arrived,
he did alright.  (despite the look on his face)

There was HUGE oak tree just off the path.

After dinner, we went over to P&T’s house.

They have two remotes, Little Man had one and P had the other.

We convinced the kids that the channels were changing by voice
command and by body motions.

Here Little Lady is demonstrating how to change the channel
by picking her butt.  (we told her to do that)

Little Lady is trying her remote control helicopter (the red blur in front
of my face).

Just about all of this snow happened after we arrived last night.
(notice no snow under our car)

Little Lady and I built this snowman.

At first, she wanted one six feet high.  Then it took
longer than she thought it would, and wanted one
four feet high.

Then she got cold and said, “Just put a head on it.”

Tinkerbell and Aunt J took a nap before we opened

The sign says it all…

Even though this picture is blurry, it still captures some
of the magic of the scene.

It is so much fun watching the kids open their presents.

This is a view out of the back patio door.  It was very pretty!

Little Lady is so funny.  Every time she opened a present, she would
scream: “I got a box!”

With housing rates so low, we just had to buy a new house
for Little Lady’s Barbies.

Little Man talked his best buddy into playing army men.

By the end of the day, all of us, including Tinkerbell, were pooped.

Road Trip to Evansville!  (Aunt J went with us!)

Before dinner, we tried some homemade wine someone gave Grandma
and Grandpa.

It was…. interesting.

We had a wonderful dinner with Cousins P & T.

Here, we are opening presents that were in our stockings.

While Little Lady is an angel, she did not want to sing her Girl Scout
version of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Little Man was not shy.  He got up on a chair and sang Rudolph the
Red Nosed Reindeer.

Mom and Little Man got a hair cut today!

Little Man LOVES getting his air washed.

Our friends came over and I fired up the Big Green Egg.

I made baked potatoes, broccoli, hot dogs and steak on the Egg.

I gave my friend a pair of heavy duty foam swords for Christmas.
(like the ones we have)

Of course, we had to start a sword fight then….

As you can tell, we bring out the best in our friends…

The whole day was great!

Aunt J made me Chocolate Gravy for breakfast.

Mom was nice enough to pick me up from work.

We all went to Mass. Ave. afterwards to eat dinner
and finish up our Christmas shopping.

I love this picture Mom took of Little Man and the “Dancing Ladies”

Aunt J made Popikash for us.

Later she made these treats for her work.

Christmas in the 21st Century.

Little Man wanted me to take pictures we could send Santa.
(in case he needed ideas for last minute gifts)
